David L. Fried, MD - Medical Director/Principal Investigator
David L. Fried, MD serves as medical director for Omega Medical Research as well as the Principal Investigator for a significant number of our clinical trials. Dr. Fried is Board Certified in internal Medicine and serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Brown University. Additionally, Dr. Fried is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy at the University of Rhode Island. Dr. Fried is a principal of Coastal Medical, Inc., a regionally based primary care group practice which serves over 200,00 patients from Rhode Islanders and southeastern Massachusetts. Dr. Fried has served as Principal investigator on over 200 clinical trials at Omega Medical Research. He is supportive to the staff of coordinators and actively involved in the recruitment process. Johnna Pezzullo, RN - President With over 13 years of clinical research experience, Ms. Pezzullo serves as the Executive Director of Omega Medical Research. Ms. Pezzullo oversees the daily business operations, continually working on business development, marketing and recruiting. Ms. Pezzullo has served as a member of the Executive Committee for the Alliance for MultiSpecialty Research, LLC, a national networking company comprised of independent clinical research centers of excellence. Lynne Haughey, MSN, FNP - Vice President Ms. Haughey is trained as a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and has over 10 years of clinical research experience. Ms. Haughey has served as Sub-Investigator on over 150 clinical drug trials. Ms. Haughey is a member of the business development team at Omega Medical Research and oversees the clinical team of study coordinators. Study Coordinators receive extensive training in GCPs and site-specific SOPs via a Preceptor Program. Training is deemed complete when all training objectives are met and documented by an experienced preceptor. In the coordinator role, OMR only employs professional nurses, as it is felt nurses are best trained to ensure accuracy in inclusion and exclusion and have the necessary assessment skills required to conduct clinical trials. Funding is provided for our coordinators to become ACRP certified. A dedicated Regulatory Affairs Assistant provides accurate and timely submissions and updates to Central Institutional Review Boards and to Sponsors/CROs. OMR maintains an in-house Recruitment Office that utilizes the Clinasyst Patient Management system to provide rapid identification of potential patient volunteers.
